Stainless steel worm clamps are used for many applications including but not limited to, sealing water/coolant lines, secondary securing of fuel line, and sealing vacuum hose. Adding clamps to vacuum lines in a naturally aspirated car that has been turbocharged is very important, the resulting issues from neglecting this addition can go from frustrating to catastrophic. Worm clamps (also known as a ‘hose or screw clamp’) are designed to provide even pressure on all sides, with no gaps. They are usually limited to moderate pressures, such as those found in automotive applications. At high-pressures the ability of a worm style clamp to withstand the forces expanding it would be pushed beyond capacity, allowing the hose to slide off the barb or leak. For high-pressure applications, compression fittings, or other designs are recommended.
